
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month awards for January 2025, recognizing outstanding performances in international cricket.
Men’s Nominees:
- Noman Ali (Pakistan):
- The left-arm spinner claimed 16 wickets in Pakistan’s Test series against the West Indies, including a remarkable hat-trick—the first by a Pakistani spinner in Test cricket.
- Varun Chakravarthy (India):
- In India’s T20I series against England, Chakravarthy took 12 wickets over four matches, averaging 9.41. His standout performance was a five-wicket haul, with figures of 5/24 in Rajkot.
- Jomel Warrican (West Indies):
- Returning to Test cricket, Warrican secured 19 wickets in two matches against Pakistan. His career-best figures of 7/32 in the second innings of the first Test were instrumental in the West Indies achieving their first Test victory in Pakistan in 34 years.
Women’s Nominees:
- Beth Mooney (Australia):
- Mooney was pivotal in Australia’s Ashes triumph over England, particularly in the T20I series. She amassed 213 runs at a strike rate of 146.89, highlighted by an unbeaten 94 off 63 balls in Adelaide.
- Karishma Ramharack (West Indies):
- The off-spinner excelled in the ODI series against Bangladesh, taking eight wickets across three matches with an economy rate of 3.30. Her standout performance was a 4/12 spell in the series decider, earning her both Player of the Match and Player of the Series honors.
- Gongadi Trisha (India U19):
- Trisha played a crucial role in India’s U19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign, consistently providing aggressive starts as an opener and contributing significantly to India’s success in the tournament.
An independent ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide will vote to determine the winners, who will be announced next week.
